DroolBlog.

Dance class was last night! A few of us were asked to perform for a fundraiser in Somerville. I'm going to pretend it's something spiffy and not just Cable Access...
I'm very excited to start costuming and such. My style of bellydance is Tribal Fusion. This means lots of Middle-Eastern metal type doodads and shells and knicknacks.

Tribal Fusion Bellydance is the most breathtaking thing I have ever seen up to this point. And I'm working on bringing it to the East Coast, because, sadly, I haven't seen anything like it out here yet.

Le Belle Epoche...

This is the 24th year in a row that I've missed New York Fashion Week. I may have to have a party to celebrate this bittersweet anniversary....
Since I could not be there though, the designers I adore kindly put up pictures and Style.com contributed lovely, lovely videos.
Here are some of my favorites, ones that inspire, and pieces and outfits I am absolutely going to copy (this is probably why i never get invited to fashion week. I'm a sneaky fashion copy-cat).
And Pre-Spring? Really? You have to go and make up seasons to get gussied up for, where seasons don't belong?! I love and hate that idea...
I got goosebumps all over the place when I was watching the Anna Sui runway show and she used the tremendously talented band, Bat For Lashes. Almost the same degree of goosebumps I got when "DJ Mr. F " combined The Decemberists and The Cantina song from Star Wars, A New Hope... almost...

Weekend

It was a 50's housewife sort of day on Saturday...

Sunday Afternoon;
Then later on is was supposed to become "1994 Grunge", but apparently I can't do grunge. Because I failed horribly and became "1994 Nautical". I don't mind Nautical inspired outfits at all, but I don't understand how I get those two mixed up.

One of my besties, Liz Revolution, and I made our way to Boston for adventures. And even though I've sworn off punk rock for ever and always, we wound up at the Ducky Boys show at Harper's Ferry. Which, as it turned out, was quite good.

walk in the woods

Mums and I went for a power walk at the Ames Estate in Mansfield earlier this week. It's a very large estate with paths through the woods and beside ponds and in gardens. There was considerably less power in my walk, as there is so much to take pictures of...

books

Today's mission was book thrifting!
Found; An old-timey Alice In Wonderland, which, surprisingly, I'd never read. I'd like all of the illustrations as a sleeve tattoo. It's probably a very good thing I can't afford such things because I'd probably be covered in beloved childrens book illustrations.
I've yet to read The Animal Family, perhaps tonight, over tea...
Again, the lure here was illustrations by Maurice Sendak, and though there aren't many illustrations, the book sounds promising.
And my absolute favorite find of this month (so far) is the Brambly Hedge series by Jill Barklem. They are absolutely beautiful, and I remember being read them before bed and on rainy days and such.

This is, I suppose, my official first blog. In all honesty, though, I've started about ten of them and now they're all sitting patiently in some interwebs waiting room...or maybe orphanage... waiting for me to remember their passwords and report something earthshatteringly wonderous. This blog will not have the same fate. Promised.
My name is Gwenivere. Welcome to my blog.
